Seminary Student Ordained A Deacon And To Be Ordained A Presbyter September 18, 2023 (Old Style)
Glory to God! On the Feast of the Universal Elevation of the Precious Cross, September 14, 2023 (Old Style), Mr. Alexander Hahr became the first student of Saint Photios Orthodox Theological Seminary to be Ordained a clergyman!
His Eminence, Metropolitan Kyprianos II of Oropos and Phyle came from Greece to Ordain the now Reverend Deacon Father Alexander Hahr to the Diaconate at the Saints Constantine and Helen Orthodox Church in Stockholm, Sweden.
God willing, Metropolitan Kyprianos will Ordain Father Alexander to the Presbyterate on September 18, 2023 (Old Style), which will mark an historic moment both for the Seminary and for the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece as a whole!
Deacon Alexander is beginning his third year as a student at the Seminary. He resides in Stockholm with his wife, Diakonissa Nina, and their three children. Because of federal government restrictions, international students were only allowed to participate in classes remotely up until the last term. Now that the Seminary has been certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program under the Department of Homeland Security, students from all over the world are able to attend classes in Etna, California. Father Alexander hopes to start attending classes in Etna in person next term.
